The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive, or RoHS, is a comprehensive piece of legislation, meant to restrict the concentration of hazardous substances present in electronic and electrical equipment.
This directive restricts the use of hazardous materials in the manufacturing of various types of electronic and electrical equipment, including cadmium, lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, and brominated flame retardant groups PBBs and PDBEs.
Manufacturers and Importers of electronic or electrical products are the primary parties responsible for compliance to RoHS. By achieving compliance through UL, they can be confident that their product has been audited and met all regulations according to the RoHS Directive.
