A Recyclability Environmental Claim Validation (ECV) is an opportunity for companies to verify post-consumer, pre-consumer (post-industrial) or total recycled content of a product via a trusted third party.
UL Environment’s Recyclability ECV calls for the disassembly and sorting of component parts into the following materials categories: batteries, metals, glass, plastics, mixed electronics and nonrecyclables. A threshold is given of total product parts that must be recyclable to achieve validation.
In UL ECVP 2789, recyclability is clearly defined, carefully measured and thoroughly vetted so that recyclability claims are specific and meaningful.
Recyclability ECV from UL Environment enables manufacturers to qualify their products to earn points toward Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification, raising visibility among key specifiers and tapping into markets demanding verifiably recyclable products.
Manufacturers whose products have achieved UL Environment’s Recyclability ECV are able to use the UL Environment ECV badge on their product packaging and marketing materials. With ease and convenience, this badge communicates to customers and prospects that products have been tested by a neutral third party, and independently validated.
Additionally, all validated products are featured on the UL Environment Sustainable Product Guide, a free online tool that allows specifiers and other purchasers to identify products by product category, company name, product name or type of claim.
